Where Learn Now is, and where it is going

Learn Now is a few weeks old, run by a small team, and being shaped by the families and tutors who are using it first. This page says plainly what works today, what is built but not yet switched on, and what we are thinking about. We would rather tell you less and have all of it be true.

No dates. A thing moves up this page when it is real, not before.

What you can use todayWorking now, for the families and tutors already here.
  • Say what you need, hear from tutors, try one lessonTutors reply with their rate and times. You pay for one trial lesson and decide after it — nothing else is charged for the matching.
  • Your money waits until the lesson has happenedEach lesson is paid on its own, held by us, and released to the tutor 48 hours after it is marked completed. Nothing renews by itself.
  • One page for each class, one inboxWhat is coming, where the money is, what happened, and the conversation — the same page for the family and the tutor.
  • A monthly progress card for each childLessons held, the tutor’s notes and what comes next, on one card you can share with family for 90 days.
  • For tutors: every open request, in the openListed the way agencies list assignments, without the family’s name, and posted to a Telegram channel. No account needed to look.
  • English and Chinese, the same siteMany parents read us in Chinese and most tutors in English; the key terms are side by side so both mean the same thing.
Built, not yet switched onWe switch a thing on only after the founding families and tutors have tried it. When one goes on, it moves up this page the same day.
  • Group classesSmall groups at a seat rate, run by a tutor, going ahead once enough seats are taken.
  • Exam crash coursesShort, dated courses before the exams, in small groups.
  • Free practice papers and the Report BookPapers put together from a bank of past questions that marks itself, and a child’s results by topic. Primary Maths, Science and English first; O-Level Maths and Chemistry are being checked now.

Also built and waiting their turn: Notes and worksheets by tutors, Rooms to teach in, Learn Now Studio, Tutor Pro.

What we are working onThe next few weeks, if they go to plan.
  • Shorter formsPosting a request and signing up as a tutor still take longer than they should. We are breaking both into a few short steps.
  • Move a lesson from the calendarDrag a lesson to a new time to propose it; the other side accepts with one tap. The 48-hour rules stay the same.
  • Notifications on your phoneA quote, a confirmed lesson or a message should reach your phone, not only your email. Only if you switch it on.
What we are thinking aboutIdeas we are looking into. Some will not happen. If one of these matters to you, tell us — that is how we choose.
  • Paying by eGIROLesson payments straight from your bank account, approved once, with no card fee. This needs a bank’s approval on our side, so we cannot say when.
  • A Learn Now app for your phoneThe site already works well on a phone; an app in the App Store and Play Store would mostly add notifications. We are weighing whether that is worth it to you.
  • Booking a tutor with a record here, without waiting for quotesFor tutors who have taught well here for a while, at their listed rate. We have not decided where the bar should sit.
  • What tuition actually costs, publishedRates by subject and level from real quotes here, anonymised, so nobody has to guess.
  • Both parents on one child’s classesA second parent who sees the same classes, lessons and progress. Asked for by founding families; the wording in our terms comes first.
  • For tutors: your own calendar, read for free timesSo the times in a quote are times that really work. Only with your permission, and only your free/busy times.

If something here is in the wrong order for you — or missing — please say so. The Feedback button on every page reaches us directly, as does info@learnnow.com.sg. That is how the order of this page gets decided.

Thank you to the founding families and tutors trying things first and telling us what is wrong. What changed recently is in News.
