What to charge as a tutor in Singapore in 2026
The going rate by level from more than 320,000 published listings, what reaches you on Learn Now, and how to price your first quotes.

Setting your rate is the first decision on every request, and the hardest one when you are new. Here is what the market asks, level by level, and what reaches you on Learn Now.

The going rate, level by level
We looked at more than 320,000 tuition listings published in Singapore between 2023 and 2026. These are asking rates in public listings:
- P1 to P3: S$30 to S$52 an hour, with a median of S$40.
- P4 to P6: S$35 to S$60, with a median of S$42 at P4 and S$48 at P5 and P6.
- Sec 1 to Sec 4: S$40 to S$70, with a median of S$50 to S$52.
- JC1 and JC2: S$50 to S$95, with a median of S$72.
The ranges are the middle half of listings: a quarter of tutors ask less, a quarter ask more.
What reaches you
- Your rate is the price the family sees. Our platform fee comes out of your side and is never added to the family's price. If a family pays by card, WeChat Pay or Alipay, the 3% payment fee is shown to them separately and never comes out of your rate.
- From the second lesson with each student, you keep your rate less the platform fee: 5% as a Standard Tutor, lower as you teach more. On a S$70 lesson, S$66.50 reaches you. Nothing else is taken on the payout.
- The trial lesson with a new family (at least 1.5 hours, at your quoted rate) is our placement fee. If the family does not continue, half of it comes back to you.
Every charge is listed on What you keep.
Pricing your first quotes
- Start from the level. Families compare quotes side by side. With no reviews yet, a rate near the usual one for the level gets you into more trials.
- Read the family's budget. Every request shows it. You can quote above it; the family sees that and may still accept, so say why in your note.
- Use the hint. On Find Students, each request shows the usual range for its level. Before your first quote, it also suggests a rate inside the family's budget and near the usual rate. It is only a suggestion: your rate is your call.
- Price each request on its own. Every quote carries its own rate, so a JC request and a P3 request do not need the same number.
- Move up as reviews come in. Reviews come only from families who took lessons with you. Once you have a few, you can quote nearer the upper end for new families.
