What tuition costs in Singapore in 2026, by level
The going rate for a private tutor in Singapore, from P1 to JC2, based on more than 320,000 published tuition listings from 2023 to 2026, and what that means for a month of weekly lessons.

How much should a tutor cost? It is the first question most families ask, and the answer depends mostly on one thing: the level.
We looked at more than 320,000 tuition listings published in Singapore between 2023 and 2026. These are the rates families and tutors asked for in public listings, not Learn Now's prices: every tutor on Learn Now sets their own rate.

The going rate, level by level
- Lower primary (P1 to P3): most rates sit between S$30 and S$52 an hour, and the median is S$40.
- Upper primary (P4 to P6): S$35 to S$60, with a median of S$42 at P4 and S$48 at P5 and P6, the PSLE years.
- Secondary (Sec 1 to Sec 4): S$40 to S$70, with a median of S$50 to S$52. Rates climb at Sec 3 and Sec 4 as O-Levels approach.
- JC (JC1 and JC2): S$50 to S$95, with a median of S$72. A-Level subjects ask the most of a tutor, and the price follows.
The ranges above are the middle half of listings: a quarter of tutors ask less, a quarter ask more.
What a month costs
Most families book one lesson a week. With 1.5-hour lessons at the median rate, a month (about 4.3 lessons) comes to roughly:
- P3: S$260
- P6: S$310
- Sec 4: S$340
- JC2: S$470, or about S$620 if lessons are 2 hours, as many JC lessons are
Why rates differ
Within a level, the rate usually reflects the tutor's experience and track record, the subject (Mathematics and the sciences tend to ask more), whether the tutor travels to you, and how close the exams are. A higher rate is not always a better tutor: the trial lesson tells you more than the price.
How it works on Learn Now
You post what you need with your budget, and tutors who teach it send you a quote with their rate and times. You compare, book one trial lesson, and only continue if it suits you. Every lesson is paid lesson by lesson, and the money is held until the lesson has happened.
Post what you need. It is free, and you can describe it before you sign up.
