How lessons are paid on Learn Now, and why your money is held until each lesson happens
You pay lesson by lesson, nothing renews automatically, and every payment is held until the lesson has happened. Here is how it works, from the trial to cancelling.

Paying a tutor months in advance means trusting that every lesson will happen. On Learn Now you don't have to: each lesson is paid on its own, and the money is held until it has taken place.

Lesson by lesson
- The trial lesson is the first lesson with a new tutor. You pay for it when you accept a quote.
- After the trial, each lesson is billed 24 hours before it starts. Nothing renews automatically, and there is no package to buy.
- If you prefer, you can pay up to four weeks ahead from Learn Now Credits, or switch on automatic payment for a class.
Held until it happens
When you pay, the money does not go to the tutor straight away. Learn Now holds it until the tutor marks the lesson completed and 48 hours pass, or until you confirm the lesson took place, whichever comes first. If something went wrong, you can raise an issue from the lesson's scheduled end, and the money stays held while it is sorted out.
Paying
- PayNow costs nothing extra.
- Card, WeChat Pay and Alipay add a 3% payment fee, shown before you pay.
- Learn Now Credits: top up once and pay lessons from your balance. Credits never expire.
Changing and cancelling
- Moving one lesson: either side proposes a new time, the other accepts, up to 48 hours before the lesson.
- Inside 48 hours: the tutor offers three other times and you choose one.
- Ending: either side can end classes at any time. Lessons not yet taught go back to you as Learn Now Credits.
Every lesson has a record you and the tutor can both see: when it was paid, any change to its time, and when it was released.
