What happens after the trial lesson
The trial is one paid lesson, nothing more. Afterwards you choose one of three roads — book regular lessons, try another tutor, or leave it there — and nothing is charged until you do.

The trial lesson is where most families decide. Here is what happens from the moment it ends: what you are asked, and what each answer does to your money.

First, the 48 hours
After the lesson, your tutor marks it completed. The trial fee stays in safekeeping with Learn Now for 48 hours after that, or until you confirm the lesson took place, whichever comes first. If the lesson did not happen or something was wrong, raise it in that time (you can do so from the lesson's scheduled end) and the money stays held while it is sorted out. Only then does the trial settle.
Then, three roads
Once the trial has settled, Learn Now asks you one question: how was it? You answer by choosing one of three roads. There is no fourth, and nothing happens on its own.
Book regular lessons with the tutor. The tutor sets a weekly time with you, and lesson 2 is yours to pay when you are ready. From then on each lesson is paid before it happens — due 24 hours before it starts — held until it has taken place, and released 48 hours after the tutor marks it completed, exactly like the trial. Nothing renews automatically, and there is no package to buy.
Try another tutor. Your request is posted again with everything already filled in, and the tutor you tried will not see it. Nothing more is charged to you.
Not now. Leave it there. Nothing more is charged, and the class stays on your Classes page with a Book again button for whenever you are ready.
If you tried more than one tutor
A request can hold several trials, and you decide once, about all of them. When you pick one tutor, the other trials end: a trial already taught is paid to that tutor on the usual trial terms; a trial still more than 48 hours away is cancelled and refunded to your Learn Now Credits; a trial inside 48 hours goes ahead, because the tutor has kept that slot for you, and settles afterwards. The request itself closes 23 days after it was posted at the latest: 14 days for quotes, 7 for trials, 2 to decide.
If we do not hear from you
Silence is not a yes. If 48 hours pass after the trial settles and you have not chosen, the class closes and the tutor is paid half the trial fee for the lesson they taught. Nothing more is charged to you, and you can book again from Classes at any time.
What the trial costs, and where it goes
You pay the trial once, at the rate in the tutor's quote, and that is all you ever pay for finding a tutor: no registration fee and no agency fee. Lesson 2 onwards is at the rate in the quote, unless you and the tutor later agree to change it. On the tutor's side, the trial fee is Learn Now's placement fee when a family continues; when a family does not, the tutor is paid half of it. We say so to tutors on every job post, and we say so here.
One record, both sides
Every step above is written on the class's own page, which you and the tutor both see: when the trial was paid, when it was marked completed, when the money was released, and the next step waiting on either side. Nothing is decided in a chat you cannot find later.
